Well Starhawk is real

Well Starhawk is real

Postby legendary-pirate » Fri May 13, 2011 2:59 pm

It was confirmed a few days ago, and first footage of the game was shown yesterday.

The music sounds awesome like it did for WH:
http://starhawkthegame.com/index/

I am definitely more interested in the game due to the trailer:
http://starhawkthegame.com/media/

12 minutes of game play footage:
http://www.g4tv.com/videos/52930/starha%20...%20lay-video/

It's kind of cool that the game is very different from WH, but at the same time I'm sort of sad that it's not like WH. I wanted a continuation of that game lol.

Anyway more videos to come.
Thoughts on the game?

i was surprised that there is gonna be a single player mode, seems like fun.

I'm with you, i was hoping for something more similar but hopefully this game will still be really good. Definitely gonna be a must buy for me

yeah, the look is a little strange. but the more I think about the build in battle the more I really like the idea. this game also looks more ground focused, which is good.

I want to see more of the planes. they look kind of weird to me.

Transformations look cool but do they take to long? Meaning will that open you up to rocket attacks when you are helpless? Maybe not just thinking

Yeah, I thought about that. But then I think it will play out like warhawk. You know when you hop in a plane and does that little hover swoop up before you fly. I think the transform takes the place of the hover swoop. Will it leave you open, yes and no. Getting in a plane in warhawk leaves you open to snipers and any other unlocked weapon. So I honk it will be the same, yes you are open to get fired upon but no locks can be aquired until you have transformed.

Now this still kinda of depends on how the mechs work and if there is more then one kind of mech. The mech I saw looked like it was parked and the Guy jumped in and then transformed into a plane. So can all mechs fight on the ground? Do mechs take the place of tanks? Can you lock onto a mech unless it is in the air? There are so many questions on how this can play out its hard to speculate.

I also did not see any hovering planes, which is good.

I always thought destructsble buildings would be a really bad idea for warhawk. As there is already almost nowhere to hide from planes. But if hey can be built, this could be pretty awesome.

I don't like how the planes look like birds ... lol

Gosh, if the stupid psn was up I think I would go buy a new ps3 right now :-(

I agree Drew, I don't really care for how the hawks look like birds either. lol

Starhawk Spreads Its Wings With Over 60 Screenshots and Art:
http://playstationlifestyle.net/2011/05/13/starhawk-spreads-its-wings-with-over-60-screenshots-and-art/
And that might be the date Lightbox started, seems about right. I'm sure they are celebrating this game because it's the first their company is putting on the market. Yeah? yeah.

I'm sort of leery with how long the buliding and transforming will take as well. It would be sort of cheap if enemies could kill you when doing those things. I'm sure the devs would have thought of that though.

"Multiplayer will support up to 32 players and features voice chat, game invites, a party system, a calender (this was not explained fully), automatic matching and clans. Further features will be revealed over the coming months including the Android app that will allow you to stay in constant touch with the Starhawk universe whilst you are away from your PS3." -That part made me lol :laugh2:

it looks like the hawks are part of build and battle? and it looks like those red x's at the top left might be how much you can build?

hmm, can you have a passenger in a hawk?

I don't know why but the game feels like it has smaller maps. maybe that because of how the single player looks?

The build depends on units you earn in gameplay. You then decide what to build. It's in one of the videos. I think it was the game play one either g4 or ign.

i'm hoping for some similar elements at least like chilling on a turret and like going on some mountains and sniping cuz thats what i liked about warhawk compared to other games, it gave you time to breathe without geteting killed every two seconds lol

theirs still alot I don't know about the game. Do you have to earn point to build or can you build whatever you want wherever you want. I also think ground forces are going to have alot more power so they can deal with mechs planes and bulidings. Im not even sure how manys weapons you'll have on the ground. advanced version of binos maybe. that I want see.

I am liking the mech idea. This game says "Anti-base rape" to me, which was a huge problem in Warhawk. In Warhawk the hawks would just hover there and spawn camp home base and destroy ground guys spawning in. It was difficult to break out of sometimes. What I see Lightbox doing now is forcing pilots to land if they want to take on the ground guys. The Starhawks in this new game don't hover. If Starhawks want to take on the ground guys, they better strafe them while still flying (which is giving skill back to true pilots), or land as a mech and face ground guys on equal footing. I am liking it as it really slows down base raping, and makes this game more of a fair fight.
Wars may be fought with weapons, but they are won by men. It is the spirit of men who follow and of the man who leads that gains the victory.

I agree it was no fun at all having 5 warhawks hovering above and destroying your base.
This will fix that problem. Im sure they'll be some ways to be cheap but not to many I hope. I have some really bad memories of gamebattles that ended up in base rape.

I agree gabrile! By the way guys, if you want to contribute ideas to Starhawk, Dylan Jobe has created a facebook page where you can talk to the developers and toss ideas out to them. They are receiving a lot of feedback on this page, and I may even get to go to Lightbox's HQ and test Starhawk soon since I live so close to their offices. Here's the page:

Yeah that's the feedback I gave about the game as well. The dogfighting looks a lot slower than it does in Warhawk. I hope this is an adjustment they will make as the game is still being developed.

Yeah, looks like their just flying around shooting at each other while filming the landscape.

I'm sure there's lots of adjustments still to be set up. There's no hud and I hope that means their hiding it.
