I can't really feel bad for you on this one. You really oughta done your research. If you had you'd know Windows doesn't set up more than 1 partition when it's installed, so you have to tell it to later on, Ubuntu asks you to make a partition, when you saw it taking the whole hdd you should of thought it over. This is the type of thing you shouldn't be doing unless you really know what you are doing.... Not trying to sound harsh, but it's just not something you should be trying unless you know. Honestly though, Linux isn't very user friendly, not sure it's your best choice to begin with.

Anyways, if you still want Vista, your only choice is to reinstall Linux and making 2 partitions during it's install, then install Vista on the 2nd partition.

Edit: I'd recommend you forget Linux and stick with Vista, Linux doesn't sound like it's for you.

It's okay guys. I called Compaq and they are sending me a system restore disk. So I'll be able to get Vista back. As for downloading Linux, I actually wanted Unix, it's server. I DID read up but like I said, something went wrong. I partioned my harddrive and everything bux I guess it didn't apply or something, IDK. But, my disc will be here by Friday, so it's all good. Except for the $21.00 Fedex fee.

.... I was about to say why would you want Unix? That would be even more difficult. I'm not even sure that's meant for normal use.

And, I don't think you want server edition.....

Also, not sure the system restore disk will work, unless the hdd partition with Vista is still there. If whatever you tried to install took up the whole Hdd Vista doesn't exist there anymore.

We were on the phone with Compaq/HP telling them how the entire C drive was wiped, and Vista wan't there and they are sending this out. I asked my mom the same thing she said it would fix it.

Eh, tech support people often are reading off a sheet. Could be I guess, but I don't see it working just based on the way Hdd's work. If it's a CD to work with the hdd maybe, but if it's just your typical Vista recovery disc, I don't think so.

You don't want sever edition. Why did you pick it? I mean, server edition is for actual server hardware.
