Epic Phailz...
What games have hyped you up beyond belief and make you think that their gonna kick so much ass just to have them be such huge dissapointments that they even piss you off?
For me...Haze...I was so hyped up fpr that game, it wasn't even funny...After the reviews came out I was in denial, then i got the darnned thing and i refused to accept it. In reality..that game was awful. There was so much potential with it that was just totally wasted..

Well I don't know if you guys have played any of the PTO (Pacific Theater of Operations) games from KOEI. PTO 1 and PTO 2 on the Super Nintendo were masterpiece strategy games, and I still play them. PTO3 never made it to the USA. But then a few years ago I saw that PTO 4 was coming to the PS2. I got so excited, i imagined a deep World War 2 strategy game in the Pacific war with the depth of PTO 2 and 3D graphics on the PS2. When I finally got PTO4 after weeks of waiting I was massively disappointed. They took out all the depth that made the first two titles great. You couldn't call on air support or ground troops anymore. You couldn't freely move fleets anymore. All you could do in the 4th installment was click a base and bring random ships in to fight each other. And the sad part was, the computer did all the fighting while you watched. All the strategy was gone. I get really mad when game companies get cheap with games that have potential to be great.

LBP, probably. It wasn't a HUGE dissapointment, but it was hyped beyond belief. It was good, but not as good as the massive hype it got.

Wow Noodlez. I don't hate Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess, but it wasn't great either. It was very watered down and too easy. It was the first Zelda game I have ever played that literally had signs and arrows pointing you to the next place or dungeon you had to go to. It was definitely no Ocarina of Time.

you basically summed up why i hate the game so much...i never played a zelda game in my life where i did not contemplate gettin a freakin strategy guide but held off due to my pride and my respect for link untill twilight princess..the fact that not one temple pissed me off, the fact that the final boss fight was so anti climatic and the fact that the story sucked!!!!!!!!!.....omg....i hated evrything about this game...xcept for horseback combat...but even that wasn't fully used...and don't get me started on the whole wolf thing -_-...jesus....and then wii controls..omg thank god i was able to hook up a gamecube controler or i wuldve broken the damn game...worst zelda game since majoras mask...wind waker was sooo much better

Re: Epic Phailz...
Wind Waker had such an awesome story. My favorite part was finding the statue of Link from Ocarina of Time inside the castle. That part was so cool and sad at the same time. But yeah I hear ya about Twilight Princess. It was my first Zelda game where I didn't need to pick up a strategy guide. Nintendo said they made it easy to make the franchise accessible to all ages. I say to hell with that. Nintendo already has tons of games for the little kiddies. Let the adults have their games too, and Zelda was always their mature title!

Noodlez, I love how included crap in all those titles, brilliant.
Zelda was just boring on the wii, and mario galaxy just sucked.

Re: Epic Phailz...
Wow... I think Noods may have the highest game standards of all time (based upon the idea that 2/3 of the games he listed are universally heralded as great games). I disagree with Mario Galaxy: it's a great game if you like platformers and Mario games in general. I don't see any way that game is bad... I haven't played the Zelda game yet (hope to by Christmas!), so I can't say.
I only rented LBP, but have to say I think the game is genius. Maybe not in the, "I want to play a game from start to finish" kind of way, but I think that game has endless re-play ability.
One game on my list of failures (and I can't even bring myself to play it!) is Lair. How do you screw up a game with dragons, epic wars, and potentially breathtaking scenes so badly? I wanted that game to be awesome, and it clearly wasn't.
Almost every super hero game created has let me down (excluding X-Men Legends, Spiderman 2, the X-Men arcade game, and the original X-Men games on the Sega Genesis). How can we not have a legendary Batman game by now? Seriously, take the Uncharted engine, make the environments dark and disturbing (with Batman climbing all over buildings instead of cliffs), throw in a few epic villains, and poof! - great Batman game. It's sad that the best Batman game to date is the Lego version.

Have you played End War yet? I'm a fan of strategy games (not die hard, but a fan) and would be curious to hear your take.

Your absolutely right i do...i understand these games were hailed and very sucessfull but as you can see most of these games were sequels...and the reason they dissapointed me so much was the fact that neither game was able to catapult its respective franchise into new heights...and then we are expected to call this..."next gen"....giv me a flippin break!!!!!!....so screw that!!!!! all those games are humongous failures!!!!!!!! and i can explain each one specifically why its a failure....im a very harsh critic as u can see

I might get Socom for Christmas.
But I didn't like Mario Galaxy because it tried to be, in my opinion, and old mario, but in 3D and failed. There were places where I knew how to get there, but simply couldn't because of the controls.

Hey Jez I tried the demo for Endwar and got kinda bored with it. I don't know, the game just felt dry to me. Maybe the full version is better?
