Now if only Obama can get some real life Warhawks rolling off the assembly lines....
Wars may be fought with weapons, but they are won by men. It is the spirit of men who follow and of the man who leads that gains the victory.

It was 52% to 46% on the popular vote. The stupidity of the electoral college is what made this election seem so lopsided.

The electorial college needs to go as it just looked stupid last night to see McCain ahead by 50,000 at one point but yet behind by 40 points. It just simply makes no sense for that to even be correct.

Re: So Obama is our new president....
Probably more of an indictment of campaign strategy than candidates (referring to the popular vote). The Democrats clearly had a better attack plan, and executed well (doing their mud-slinging early as opposed to late, pandering to niche groups, using Palan's inexperience and quirkiness to deflect the fact that she is more of a minority <being a female politician, leader, etc.> and offers as much or more "societal" change as Obama does as a black man, etc.). One of the best run campaigns, maybe ever, imo.
Funny enough, I think it's what hurt the Democrats in the previous election (Kerry had a good # of popular votes, but lost too many key states). They figured it out this time: if you ignore the more conservative Midwest and Southern states completely and rely only on the most liberal costal states to carry you, you’re going to lose (regardless of where the population centers lie). You have to win at least a few of those moderate people over, and calling them hillbillies and Bible thumpers (as was done in the Kerri election) isn’t going to gain their support. Obama was able to straddle the line of conservative/liberal ideologies without making (for the most part) one side or the other feel as though the candidate was out of touch with what was important to them.
I'm not going to proclaim Obama a savior (as many are), because: a) he’s just one person, and no matter what kind of shit we get into, or how good things get, he’s not going to be solely responsible, and b) I'm not sure we're as bad off and in need of saving as is being spun lately. That being said, he's a smart guy, a good speaker, and should do a fine job representing the United States (I felt the same way about McCain).

I still have character issues with Obama, then the fact that we don't know if he was even born in the US (for those that don't know you Must be to be President).
Edit: Another thing was I rarely even saw McCain commercials (saw more toward the end) while I saw Obama ones all the time. I will agree that the Republicans didn't do so well plan wise this time.

Obama was born in Hawaii. He moved with his family to Indonesia when he was 6. He returned to Hawaii (Indonesia could not provide the schooling he needed) and lived with his grandparents a few years later, and until he graduated high school there. Moved to LA for college, and transfered to Columbia in NYC.
To be president you must be a natural citizen (citizenship at birth, which requires at least one parent to be a citizen, though you don't need to born in the country) and lived here 14 years before you're elected.

Maybe because it's none of our business? The government has records of his birth, and his mom (maybe his dad, I don't know) was a citizen anyway, so he'd be.
