Intro:
Resistance: Fall Of Man is a title that need no introduction. RFOM was not only the best PS3 launch title, but its noted not only as being one of the best launch titles for the PS3 but also one of the best launch titles period along the ranks of Mario 64. Resistance2 is obviously the sequel and this is its long due review.
Controls:
Resistance 2 controls just like the first one in every aspect. The only difference here is everything feels a lot more improved and streamlined, or dare i say it Call of Duty 4ish, which is far from a bad thing. Everything is the same as it was in the first one, R1 is shooter R2 is alternate hold R2 to run, circle for grenades, same. Thank God.
Gameplay
Resistance 2 really surpasses the first one in this field in almost every way. The basic gameplay is still the same except there are a few new complete changes. Firstly, the weapon wheel has been taken out and replaced with a Halo-esq two weapons system, but this doesn't make the game feel more like Halo, it just makes the game alot more strategic. Another new addition is the seperate 2-8 player Co-Op campaign that is a seperate story that also introduces a class system and although this is a great new and entertaining system for FPS games, it saddens me that the single player campaign can not be played co-op at all. The single player campaign follows the same formula as its predecessor except its BIG in every way, except lentgh unfortunatly clocking in at a mere 10-12 hours. Lastly the competitive multiplayer is not only better than the first, its easily up there as one of the best on any console. It has a very COD4 feel, but it makes many great new additions. The whole objective mode is just fantastic, the voices telling you to run to beacons and taking out target, it just makes you feel like part of an army. The ranking system is very COD4 from the XP bar down to the Perks like system. But new additions it adds is the XP shown every time you shoot someone, and also alot of the new guns make a very interesting turn but i wont give anything away that will spoil your first time.
Graphics:

Needless to say, the game looks fantastic. If theres one thing that hands down is better than it predecessor its the visuals. From the details to the characters and guns, to the vibrant colors everthing here looks fantastic, easily some of the best visuals on the system. You really got to see them in action to appreciate them
Sound:
Just like the visuals the sound is top notch, everything here from the guns to the units yelling and screaming objectives to the Chimera growling and moaning to their death. The voice chat is fantastic also, its clear and loud and i rarely hear anyone break in and out due to lag.
FINAL VERDICT:
Resistance 2 is a better game than the first in almost every aspect, and on top of that it all blends together to make one fantastic package that everyone is sure to enjoy. If your tired of COD4s attempt at brutal realism but still want a online FPS thats equally as fluid as it s beautiful and run, than look no forward than here because not only do you get that. You only get it on our beloved console of choice, the PS3.
