So TwistedSystem.

What songs are you trying to learn/ which ones do you have down and like playing.

My recent challange is the Pat Benatar 80's hard girl rock anthem "Hit me with your best shot" she had a great voice and was dead sexy back then. any way great riffs but serrious fret board movent on the chords. very very suite chunky 2 beat sound to the song if you have never heard it.

Hmm I just taught myself Lake of Fire by Nirvana. The solo isn't bad at all but it sounds pretty nice when you play it. I haven't looked at Hit me with your best shot's tabs but im going to look it up when im done here.

the only one of Nirvana's cds i am familar with is Nevermind. I never thought about learning thier stuff becase i dont really hear the chords or the changes that well with them.

I dont have the solo for the Benatar song but am working fairly dillagently on the Eb Db transitions. those are the awkward chords for me.

I have my major and minor down pat but the sus a sus 7 so on i dont know.

I have been tinkering with White stripes hotel yorba on my acoustic. 3 chord song ( 1, 4, 5) I think its G, C D i am not near the computer with my note book; nice and simple and fun.

One thing that is extremely fun but very simple would be stuff like the My apocalypse solo (Escape the Fate) and the intro to lip gloss and black (Atreyu).

Its a type of finger picking but im not sure what its called. Ill use the lip gloss and black intro for example. Every string sounds cool but its easiest to first do it on the E string. You place your pointer finger on the 7th fret. You then use the pointer finger of your other hand and hit the 14th fret of the same string. Next you push down with the finger on the 14th fret so its like you strummed on the 7th fret. You now hammer on the 10th fret with your ring finger. This is fairly simple once you can do it and when you play around with this technique you can make it sound pretty cool. Im not sure if you know how to do this or not but I thought I would bring it up.

Hmm never learned a surf type of song so I will have to look into that but if you want to try out that technique, download My Apocalypse. About 3 minutes in starts, the solo is very slow at first but speeds up to a very fast speed that I can have troubles getting the timing down right, I can usually do it though. It just has a good range of speed to get acustomed too.

Hey just posting my thanks for those tabs again as I learned it and I enjoy playing it. Its neat because its a style of music that I don't really play much on the guitar so it was a great break from some of the stuff that I have been playing.

your welcome. glad to hear you liked it. yeah its older then my dad but its a smoth song. I menat to mention you can play the chords in decending order down the neck in a index finger Bar E pattern down to the E major. ask if i did not explain that right. wheni looked at the tab it makes the chords look like you should play them as regular major minor but you can also do them in the bar decending fashion. This way might actually be closer to how a surf band would have played it.

I did tinker around with the finger tapping exercise you mentioned. It reminds me of Eddie Van Halen style play

Hmm im not sure if you explained it right but I still understood it, I just play around with that finger tapping because im getting really fast with it, I can go even faster when I flip my hand so my fingers are facing down not up, just look up my apocalypse cover (don't use the actual band just look at some random guy playing the guitar part) on youtube and go to about the 3 minutes mark, they do it on the fast part of the solo.

man ok sorry i did explain that weekly. imageine a E major with bird finger on the G your next to bird tiny finger on D and the pinky on A ( emajor with optional finger placement. )

now slide the whole thing up to where the bird finger is on fret 6 now place your ( keeping the E shape wiht small fingers on fret 6 and 7 ) PLace your index like a bar across the 5th Fret.
NOw Strum 3 times and slide whole thing down to where index is on 3rd fret and keeping the E shape in relative 4 and 5 frets now strum 3 times and slide down to where the whole hand shifts to where the index is on the 1St fret with E shape on 2 and 3. Strum 3 times then remove index slide E shape fingers into E major postion and strum once.

ok strum following the directions above WE start with 5th fret and work our way down but strum direction is important 5th Fret starts highest note or strum up to your head then down to feet then upto head. now slide and Strum Down , Up , Down. now slide and strum UP, Down , UP Now ending with E shape Birdfinger Strum down once and slide hand back into 5 th fret postion. very very cool way to strum it.
