I don't know. its a good theory with alot of facts supporting it. like the fact that our universe is expanding.

So if there was a big "bang"...what went bang? And not that infintesimaly smalll atom they theorize about....Imagine to put all the mass in the univers into a single atom....I dont know

And where the hell is the center of the universe at? And where exactly is the edge of the universe and what would you find there?

the bing bang theory...hmmm....i think it coulda happened. i just dont like the name for the evnt that will supposedly occur when the universe implodes. its called Gnab Gib. Its supposedly the exact opposite of the Big Bang Has anyone heard of this? Its an uber creative name.

Im sure we'll be dead before that happens.
I was thinking that the big may occur because the universe collapses on it self. after it expands it contracts back in on it self. then another big bang happens then it starts all over. like a life cycle only a lot bigger. I have no idea if thats even a plausible theory. its just a thought i had.

Like Gab says...my theory is that blackholes suck up everything, even other black holes, until there are 2 MASSIVE ones left, and they basicly tear eachother apart. Gravity and all that. Of course I have no evidence to support this. :)

Maybe that could be a possibity, seriously, when a star dies out it collapses back in on itself, and then goes nova, so why couldnt the universe....I mean our universe has only been around 20 some billion years, thats not that long...it could have happened countless times

EXACTLY! The universe may have be remade hundreds of times we would never know. i mean billions of years is a long time compared to how long humans have been around. only a 3 or 4 thousand i think.
It still amazing to me what it takes to make a stable planet like we live on. You need it to be the right distance from the sun. To far you freeze to close you burn. The right size to have an atmosphere but to big that the gravity crushes you. Even are moon makes this world work the right way. Try to imagine what it be like without are moon. The light it gives and its gravitational effect it has on the oceans.

Yeah but there was a time when we had no moon, roughly 100 million years ago.
But what if some rouge meteor slammed into the moon and destroyed it, life on earth would play hell, it would cause the north and south poles to shift fueling climate changes that would make it impossible to survive.

My one and only question is, Are we alone?
I think not, out of the countless galaxies in our universe I dont see how our planet could be the only one to harbor life, but what irks me is scientist are searching for carbon based life elsewhere in the cosmos, why do they think life has to evolve like it did on our planet. Im sure there can be sentient beings out there that are not carbon based.

Honestly though, we may never find that life before we extinct. We'd be lucky if there's any life in our own galaxy, which I doubt that there is.

I think life is more common then you'd think. Mars is a nearly habitably planet. I wonder if humans could terafrom it. And fish is right their could be many ways for beings to evolve not just carbon based. Mybe somthing like pure energy life froms that'd be very cool. Their was this idea in a sci-fi show that i liked.
"We are the universe made manifest."
That we are part of everthing. We are at the core made up of atoms and energy just like everything else.

This exactly. This confused me when I was 8, and it still confuses me...why does life have to have happened like it did here? And it's totally possible Mars was inhabitable millions of years ago, when it could've had an atmosphere.

I believe life did more than likey existed on mars, if not I am sure in the future when we do achieve the technology that it could be terraformed, seriously, the Earth is going to get quite crowded some day soon, we will have to go somewhere, and mars is the next logical step.

And another thought....UFO's, extraterrestials, aliens, whatever you want to call them, here is my theory on this:

They are NOT from other planets in far off galaxies, really, even at FTL speeds it would take ages for them to get here, I am sure they would have better things to do with technology like that than to take a road trip thru the universe for hundreds of years. Unless they could bend space and time to make the trip instantaneous.

My thoughts, they are simply humans, evolved thru the ages over thousands of years and have acheived time travel, what would be better than going back to see how we began. I mean crap, I would love to go back and check out the dinosaurs. And they are humanoid in apperance, our species could easily evolve into something that resembaled them, Its not like they stop and share their technology with us, so basicly they are just observing us, not breaking the rules at all because they are not changing our future, we are just monkeys in a cage to them.

Dude...you just blew my mind with that time travel stuff...

Got me thinking though..you got a point there. I'm not quite so sure about the time-travelling-evolved-humans thing, but I certainly think they wouldn't be a group of soldiers. The aliens would, more than likely, be more like a group of scientists, studying other planets. We do that, why wouldn't other things? Perhaps off looking for other life..and hey look! They found it!

Yeah stick, maybe they are aliens just out exploring other planets, but the time to travel to those other planets is what baffles me, cause that one really smart guy said that you cannot travel faster than the speed of lite. So unless they are from our own Milky Way galaxy and somewhere very close, then think of the time they would be spending in their spacecraft, unless they have hyb tanks, and even from our own galaxy, I would not want to spend all those years traveling to even our closest star at the speed of light. And what about fuel for their spacecraft?

Newtonian physics predicted that if your spacecraft burnt X amount of fuel, it would be accelerated by a velocity of Y, always. Which makes common sense.
Relativity says that may be true at normal velocities, but it doesn't hold at speeds close to the speed of light "c". At those speeds, burning X amount of fuel will accelerate your spacecraft by less than Y, i.e., to accelerate by Y, you need to burn more than X fuel.
And to move at the speed of light, you'd need an infinite amount of fuel. And more than infinity if you want to move faster. Since it is impossible to burn an infinite amount of fuel it is impossible to move at the speed of light, let alone faster.

But then again Relativity proves that FTL travel is identical to Time travel, (read this if you want)

So that takes me back to thinking it is just us from the future :bng:

Time travel would be cool. We could see what really happened to the dinosaurs, how they really built the pyrimids, stonehenge, JFK's assassination and alot more. Their are many things in the past that we could learn the truth about. Time travel is just as plausible a theory as alien visitation.

He only did that because twisted made a post abut the show then fish made this one about the real big bang theory.
It was a good discussion. but it went from the big bang to life on earth then to aliens and a few other topics. But it was fun.

it is really hard for me to fathom that space is infinite.....seriously, it has to end somewhere, I would really love to see the edge of our universe, if it exists
