As far as buying a version I don't know as Lixnux is a free OS. Ubuntu I've used but I don't know how it'd run on PS3. Be warned installing stuff is strange on Ubuntu at least.

I installed Windows 3.1 on my PS3, it rocks!

Maybe 3.1 was great back then, but I'd rather run linux than 3.1.....

you can run a few i dont know the ones verified. if you want i can burn a copy of yellow dog. be warned you might need to reformat your HD to install it. which means risking your game saves and trophies and such. so beware.

i love that poem. ha.

if Diamond needs a pc then it will fit his needs. just be sure Diamond that you can live with out any game saves that are stored on your hd or any downloadable content. if you are ok with that then you are good to go. Yellow dog , sony nor I make any promise or waranty. this is a at your own risk. ok

the scary stuff out of the way. its pretty easy to do and well i actually updated from a previous version and risked all my downloaded stuff. got lucky. :-) but i have dual booted a few before and was feeling like a gambler.

i like and used this guide. i dont make any promises or garuntess. that is inherent in the GNU public licnese as well but its CYA for me and Terra soft and sony. dont feel bad if you have tinkered before with other Linux kernal.s

i spent all day try to figure out what is wrong with my puter, i think i narrowed it down to the cpu chip, im gonna buy a new one and see if that does anything. everything i looked up and troubleshooted the puter with points to the cpu

We may be able to guess what's wrong with your PC if you tell us what it's doing.

well everything was fine never had a problem. i used it almost all day everyday (Downloading, making beats, burning movies everything so the cpu was constantly bustin its butt) but anyways everything fine n dandy turn it off 4 the night. Next day turn it on ( it turns on but doesnt show or load anything but lights are on and fans running full speed and never stops) the monitor is fine i play my ps3 on it and tried another computer i have and it works. tried a diff power source, hard drive, ram , unplugged certian drives i tried everything the internet suggested to trouble shoot. i took out the cpu to see if the fans stop and they did . that and similar symptoms i found from other ppl suggest the cpu. i found the same one that my puter has and am gonna buy it, its only around 60$ if its not that then im gonna take it to a shop

Well if the fans are starting then it's not the PSU. Was the heat synch working for the cpu? That could of caused a problem if not. But if you changed out ram, hdd etc, it sounds like CPU is the only thing left. The only other thing it could be would be the video card.

Edit: Did you OC your processor? If not it sounds like your heat synch fails as it's unusual for a cpu to just die like that from normal use from all I've heard.

well the fans come on full blast when u turn it on and stay high speed it never did that before im starting to think i burned the cpu out from working it so much plus i think it might have suffocated its self cuz the vents fill up with thick dust all the time i cleaned it but it was after this happened

I was talking about the fan on the CPU itself. If that thing is clogged then yeah that's probably exactly what happened.

to be honest from all i read i dont think its the videocard but im guessing it has a built in one cuz i dont know where to locate it and yes the heat sync works not really sure what that is but im guessing ur talking bout the fan over the cpu

Yeah must be integrated, sounds like your best bet would be trying the Cpu.
