Real Threat or REal HOax anyone know PS3 Virus email?

Hey guys I got a PS3 email from a person i consider to be an ok individual. I dont know him personally but via online aquiantence. he forwarded a email to me about a hacker

with the tag of "psdeath666"

stating that he has created a script that will via email attachment or picture damage your PS3. no specifics on how or what happens.


Hoaxes are virus's of a sort. they can cause panic and then complacency. IF I have been hoaxed and panicked and forwarded this erroneously I apologize but as the ps3 is capable of running an OS I figure the potential exists even if this is a hoax.

nah no way, this dude's been fooled by a troll. and you almost got caught in the trap. i don't think the ps3 has much compatibility with email in the first place, let alone running scripts from them.
there's a reason there isn't shitloads of homebrew flying around for the ps3, they can't hack the bastard.

these guys operate through creating fear, don't fall in.

nice post TT. yeah i was thinking this was a hoax in the back of my mind but just that outside chance made me shiver to think aobut it. funny thing is i still dont look at atachments even on that relatively simple thing unless i really know the sender.

i'm sure if someone managed to get the SDK they'd use it for better purposes.

further research is telling me theres no way. a ps3 development kit costs 20,500 USD

Ive been getting junk mail like that lately. That virus one and this other one about a halo left for dead beta key or something like that. A bunch of BS. Just people abusing the copy paste function.
