it's official, nintendo sucks a big penis. they've revealed a new DS with a camera and multimedia functions, soudns okay right? WRONG. there are two camera's. both of an amazingly below average VGA resolution. remember the GBA slot. the thing people use for playing GBA games an GH on tour. if i wanted mp3's and a low-ish res camera, i;d use my phone. actually, i'd use my phone anyway. because it has HSPDA internet anywhere in australia and foxtel. for less than a BS. leave multimedia to the big boys nintendo, you're failing from outset. though i do expect the next psp to ship with a 3.2/5 megapixel camera.

Why the heck would you need this awesome camera if you aren't going to print pics? You are looking at them on a 3.25 inch screen.... 3 mp is plenty. I had an old digital camera that used 3.2 mp and it took great pictures. It made good standard size prints.
Besides AAC support is nice and the goal is you have a game system and a music player in one. Will I use it much? No, because I don't do much music. However, if I was going on a long trip it'd be nice to just bring this DS along instead of a DS and a mp3 player.

Furthermore the new DS ware could be quite cool. And it's something to look forward to. Yes, losing the Guitar Hero thing is a bummer, but they can always rework that somehow. As far as GBA games go, there's not too many I'd want to play and if you really want to play GBA (or GB games for that matter) go pick a GBA SP as they are cheap and can play all types of Gameboy games. The GBA slot was removed to make it thinner.

PS good luck finding DS quality games on your cell.....

PS, im fine with the DS, im stuck in a rut about buying a DS or a psp. but this update sucks, it's not a 3 MP camera. its .3 megapixel. 320x240 tiny. also i noticed nintendo's retarded trick, the camera on the front measures less than 1mm across, i know because i have one the same size on the front of my phone, they've just painted a huge black circle around its tiny camera to make it seem more substantial.

Another thing to me is I do not like to use my phone for anything aside from texting and calling as I can never tell what the battery is going to decide to do. So I'd rather use the DS for music if I could (which you can with Homebrew).

You also left out all the interesting stuff about downloads now. Also if you don't like it, don't buy it. It's not like DS Light's won't work anymore.

To me the bigger screens might make it worth it alone. Despite the small increase it seems to really make things look better to me based on the screens (I think they are screens rather than mock-ups) I've seen.

i cant use handhelds my neck hurts so my GB is only used for hooking up to my Cube and playing the GB / GBA games on the tv.

the screens are larger, but from what i've seen they haven't increased the resolution. the whole downloadable games thing is fine. but if it's anything like wiiware then it will mostly be fail. i know wiiware is young but most of the stuff on there is just crap. haha, just thought of something funny. the DS downloadable games would have a higher size limit than the wiiware ones. i just think it's a bit half arsed. crap camera's no GBA slot. seems like something quickly put out to try and block r4's or something. like the psp-3000. except sony can't stop the psp hackers. nintendo however can do a hardware block.

Personally I think selling consoles is a bad move. Sure, there may not be much in the way of hardcore games now, but No More Heroes 2 is a must have imo.

And to me all the extra stuff like Mp3 playing etc. is a minor point. It's nice to have but ultimately there are more important things to consider when picking up a portable. However the PSP is hurt by it's lack of portability. Like it or not the DS's foldability helps protect it, while the PSP almost requires a case. I would not like carrying around a PSP in a backpack or something unless I wanted to carry it in it's case.

yeah, the size is bad and good. nice sexy screen for watching movies, nice sexy processor, theyve fixed it to a degree with the 2000 series.. they can't fix it's width. they can't fix it's height. they fixed it's width to a degree. really brick was the only way they could go for the psp. i know the handyness of popping it in a pocket cannot be underestimated. but i've bought a nice looking case. i think i'll survive
