Let's restructure the clan
A new idea for this clan dawned on me and I think this could work. I want everyone's input on this. First all, I know forum participation hurts us, and it's weird we have a lack of participation with a clan of 60+ members. There could be a way to fix this. I think we should make a clan charter with easy basic guidelines to follow as a clan member. I can help with this Charter because I used the same method when I was the leader of a clan of 200 people for a year in World of Warcraft. It doesn't have to be an elitist type charter, just easy guidelines, like forum participation. We create it, then we have to email all current members to sign the charter (maybe in a thread somewhere). Those who don't sign obviously don't care and they should be removed from the clan. It will weed out those who don't care about the clan. We can all come up with the easy to follow guidelines later with more discussion.
Step2: We could try creating a rank system for clan members who are active, give them some type of reward for participating. Maybe like making someone a mod for a game they want others to play? Also create commander slots for GB battles. The commanders could be for example, a commander of ground pounders, or a commander of the pilots. And maybe have sub ranked members to help those commanders out. Maybe Lieutenants to assist those commanders. And we could break our ground pounders and pilots into these groups. Like for example, if in a GB we're gonna go up against a clan made up more of pilots, then the commander and the lieutenants of the pilot squadron will need to track down clan pilots through the forums or through emails on the PS3 itself. That way if forum participation is still lacking, at least we have a method of breaking down the work of tracking down players we need for a battle without TB having to email 60+ people on his PS3. It cuts his work load down, and we get to help him out. I don't think we can fully clamp down on lack of forum participation, but we can at least tackle it somewhat, and I think having different organized battle groups with sub leaders will help us organize the players we need for GB and friendly clan battles.
I also would like to recommend assigning Krazykat as our official researcher and intelligence operative on the strength and talents of other clans we face. He's got the talent for it.
Give me your input guys, and let's make a discussion of this. No chuck norris or asian gangsta comments please. Thanks.

I'm only focusing on Warhawk because that's what I mainly play for this clan, but the same ideas could apply to other games for the rest of you guys.

Re: Let's restructure the clan
Hehe, nice ideas.
1:
Lets call it:
Charter of expectations/charter of responsiblilties.
Why? Cause it reminds me of my charter of rights. (Canada, bill of rights basically... idk if america has charters, I haven't learned American history.)
Like you said, people who do not agree or agree and do not follow up should be removed from this clan.
2:
Reward for participating in the forum and games: You don't get kicked from this clan.
"Maybe Lieutenants to assist those commanders" What do you mean by commanders? A rank or someone who gives orders over the mic?
I say you shouldn't judge players by there rank, off course rank dictates the first impression.
If you meant leader, then the leader should be picked based off who gives the best orders.

that's a great idea. you would never be able to tell we have almost 90 (site) members. This is a great idea, and I think the ranking system is cool too.

Thanks beam! To answer your question, the "commanders" of certain groups in the clan wouldn't be barking orders at people on the forum. Their job is simply to help train, recruit, and organize clan members for battles. Like for example. I currently lead our clan's air squadron. My job is to train anyone who wants to be a pilot in the clan. I would also be responsible for scouting and recruiting any new pilots I want to bring into the clan, and it would be my job to know who my pilots are and my job to organize them or contact them when some of them are needed for a battle.
Communication over the mic in a battle is something we as a team are already good at it, but maybe the commanders can use the mics to organize strategies with their battle groups in a fight.

Oh i have been reading them and I agree with you, we need to get some structure here so we can come together as a team, instead of the usual straggler that joins in a sporadic game.
@TB, I think its time to drop the proverbial hammer, either the 60 some odd members we have either get in here and get with the clan, or get out. Simple as that. Replace them with actives. Members that do not visit these forums have absolutly no idea what is going on with the clan. Weed the garden!!!!
@Noodlez, I dont feel it would be Warhawk specific, even tho that is also the main game I play, everone here is a member of RRB, no matter what game we are playing at the moment. We have a multi game clan.
I will post more about this later after I have had some more time to think about this.

Re: Let's restructure the clan
Fish you should highly consider this!
AoD uses this system and have a group of about 173 people scattered Across multiple games. They are highly successful and are a cool group. They have the following ranks
Trainee (pink)
Next-Gen (green)
Moderators (blue)
Clan Moderators (purple)
Senior Moderators (yellow)
Global Moderators (orange)
Administrators (red)
That is it highest from lowest you have to be a member for at least a month to be Next Gen

Re: Let's restructure the clan
I like that tier system there Kat, but it seems to be too forum based. Maybe we could use it as a reward system for participation on the forum? The rank system I want to use is more like a battle promotion. With me leading our pilots, I would organize them, train them, and fight with them using strategies we work on. While the ground pounder leaders would do the same for their ground pounder units. Maybe there's a way we can somehow mesh all these ideas into one.
And yeah fish, we need to weed the garden. It's ok if members post here every once in awhile, that's no big deal because we all have lives. It's just frustrating when there's a large number that have never said hi here at all. Those are the ones that need to go. The random Spud player joining a battle who has never been to the forum gets us killed in my opinion, because they haven't been practicing with the team. It upsets the balance.

oh and Noodlez, the home feature is gonna be great! I saw that there's gonna be a Warhawk Lounge in Home, and your characters can all stand around a table that displays the map you're gonna be using in Warhawk. Now that's a huge way to set up strategies without having to run around on a map in Warhawk itself. I can't wait!

Re: Let's restructure the clan
I have never implemented a rank system here for a couple reasons, for 1, as far as im concerned we are all equal, wanna do it like ps, and have the new members called "Newbies", I dont. I feel it is degrading to be called a noob. They have joined this clan to be our equals, team mates, friends. For 2, why have the added competiton here to see who can get the highest rank? Wanna improve your stats, get in a game and do it there.
This is the most relaxed site you will prolly ever be able to post at, you are not banned for spam, you are not warned all the time to stay on topic, your threads and posts are not moved , locked or deleted. You dont have big shot admins telling you when you can wipe your ass....
When some one wants to be called something "special" above their avatar, all they generally have to do is ask me. What other site can you do that at?
When someone wants to mod a certain forum, al they really have to do is ask me. What other site can you do that at??
IF a ranking system is implemented then things will be changed, who will lose his "thumbs up" rank, cloud will never get his "exotic species" rank, stick will lose his "riot police" and so on...this will be so the new rank system can be implemented.
I dont mind an "Award system" however you guys decide that would work, but that can be done separatly from the ranking on this board.
But why do we need to "Reward "ppl that post on the forum? Are we dogs doing tricks?
So let me ask everyone this....do you really want to change the way this board runs???

Keep it shut for what? I like the idea of structure and your other ideas, but I just disagree with with changing this forum to reward members that post. And the way AoD is doing it, im not about to let any one that makes an x amount of posts be a global moderator or admin, thats absolutly asking for trouble, only responsible individuals should be allowed to moderate or administrate, I work my ass off keeping this site up and trying to make it look good, so why allow top posting members have mod or admin tools, hippo has more posts than alot of us so should I allow him to be a global moderator?
If an award system is something you want for say outstandind practice attendance or something then an awards page could be made for that purpose.
Unless you misunderstood or maybe it came across that way DW, basicly i was going with what you had said about not being forum based, I just totally disagree with the way AoD passes out mod and admin privledges, and i see no point in rewarding posters. It would just create a spam race here to get top post.

kat was the one who was talking about mod/forum rewards. I was talking about organizing sub leaders within the group to lead the ground pounders in one group and the pilots in another. anyways i am tired and don't feel like typing it all out again. just read it above.

Yes I know what you were talking about DW, and once again I like your Ideas.
And if an award/tracking/ranking system is needed then we can track that separatly from the forum.

Just a note of clarification of all that is net speak. Newbie simply means you are new. Newb means the same thing. Noob is the insult. But yeah, I see no point in a board ranking system. Though I think that Vash guy would make a good global mod since he deletes spam.
