TB we're not trying to act hardcore. All we're asking for is people to be active and want to fight as part of the clan. There's just a percentage of people in the clan that never show their faces and don't seem to care and that's what bothers a lot of us. We are in no way trying to be elitist, just trying to make the clan more active. It's still just as casual and fun as ever, just with more activity. What gets on my nerves is whenever someone tries to organize and motivate people, it's suddenly labeled as being "elitist"

Pt. 1

Hey guys haven't been on the site in a couple of days (getting ready for a trip out of state, and just had all of my phone/internet/tv switched over to a new provider), so I'm just catching up. This is going to be LOOOONNNNGGG, so here we go...

First, as I said I'll be out of town (starting this afternoon going through next Sunday or so). Consequently, if you send me an e-mail, etc. to the PS3 I won't be able to respond until then (I will respond, so please don't give me the boot!).

Next, to the topic at hand: I've actually thought some about this as this clan has seemingly grown quite a bit and evolved even in the short time that I've been around. One thing in particular has jumped out at me: there is somewhat of a difference in philosophy among the active members (at least in the feedback I've seen after some of the GB, etc. battles).

I've played in 5-6 clan matches (I think), and I'm pretty sure our record in those matches is something like 1 victory, 1 tight loss, and 3 or 4 ass kickings. After those matches (particularly the ass kickings) the predominate feedback I've seen on the boards has been something like this, "wow, that sucked, we got destroyed. I'm frustrated, let's not play such good teams". Here is where the discrepancy lies; those clan battle sites are going to be populated by 90% hardcore clans/players that eat, drink, and sleep Warhawk. Truly casual (i.e. fun) clans/players aren't going to be represented in GGL and GB to any great extent (the nature of those systems are set toward highly organized and competitive groups).

So, I guess I'm saying I don't think we can have our cake and eat it too in this case. I see 3 options: 1) Our clan becomes more organized (more elite if you prefer the term), practices more, etc. and learns to play against the good clans (I'm not in favor of only playing weak opponents by the way: you can only learn to be great by playing/watching the great... practice is designed for learning the basics, and shouldn't be confused with playing crappy opponents); 2) We continue to play as is (focus on fun/casual letting anyone and everyone play, regardless of practice, etc.) on GGL/GB and get our tails kicked (in our current state, I don't see any way we win more than 1 out of every 10, and those other 9 are going to be slaughters); 3) We quit playing the organized clan battle sites, focus on trying to recruit more people with a casual/fun interest, and work to get more same Vs same clan matches (meaning we open our own servers and play against each other a lot, or we go into public servers as a group and play more) and maybe try to find other clans of similar skill to fun battle from time-2-time.

Pt. 2

I see what DW, Ryan, MH, etc. are trying to do, and I think in theory it's dead on in terms of getting better (let's filter out those who aren't serious about getting better, not elite, just better). However, I think that may directly go against the fundamental nature of this clan (I joined when I read TBs spill on an IGN board about this being a group of casual guys who just enjoy playing together, regardless of ability). Normally, I might suggest that we try to split the clan into groups (which is what I think DW and others have been doing a great job of, and not in a bad way), but it seems the most active players in the clan are falling on the more competitive side (nothing shocking there... those who want to be better play more) and I'm afraid we'd only have the one group represented if we keep this up.

I consider myself to be an above average Warhawk player in general. That being said, I def. fall on the fun side of things. Even when we were getting our butts spanked in the matches, I still had fun because I was doing what I came to this clan to do (play with cool/friendly guys that love to play Warhawk). Win/lose/draw I just want to have people to play with online that don't yell at their team, curse at someone continually, and basically throw tantrums on the mic. I think I've found that (100% of everyone I've played with in this group has been outstanding), and I don't want that to change.

I completely agree with you jezzell. I haven't had the opportunity to play in a GB with you guys yet, but you are making perfect sense. We are going through the motions of an elite team (playing on GB.com) and stuff, but we don't want to be a elite group.I've seen alot of, "don't play the good teams" and if we don't want to do that, we have no buisness being on Gamebattles.com.

Wow great response jez, I agree with a lot of what you've said and disagree with some points. I am at work right now, so I'll try to type fast. I don't want us to be elite. I still want this clan to be the fun group of guys it has always been. I disagree with you in the sense that I do believe a casual clan of fun players can destroy an elite clan of players who live Warhawk. How can a casual clan achieve this you might wonder? Through talent, teamwork, passion, and strategy. I know it can be done because I've achieve this many times. I have many experiences with online games on my Resume. To give examples (and not to put myself on a pedestal), I used to play a game called Dark Ages back in the early part of this decade. It was a 2D MMORPG. I organized a casual group of players to casually work behind the scenes and slowly overthrew many of the corrupt elite players running many of the cities and towns in that game LOL. I was cheered as a hero by players in that game, and seen as a menace by others. Even to this day my name is still hated by some people in that game. My second example is I used to be the leader of a guild of 200 players in World of Warcraft. I ran it very casually and my members loved it. We as a casual guild would at times destroy the so called elite clans in pvp battles. I was able to achieve it with teamwork, spirit, and strategy. I have overtime been able to beat up on the elitist crowds just with will and determination, but still ran casual groups doing it. So to get to my point, the casual player can win! You don't have to be elitist to beat an elitist. You just gotta out smart them. That's what I am trying to do here. I am just trying to organize us while still having fun and condensing our talent. I've found some really talented pilots and ground pounders to add to the clan over the past month or so. I believe with this talent all working as a team we could match an elite clan anyday. I am in no way wanting to boot anyone from the clan who is gone for a few days LOL. If there's talk or cutting anyone, it's people who have been gone for months upon months and just never visit the forum. We know you're an active player Jez. I also have two pilots tyson and Kalm who come to the forum like once every 2 weeks, but I know they are active clan members still. We just want to do something about the members who never show up 100% at all. We are still casual and I want to have fun, that's not going to change.

agreed. and although we don't want to completely be elite, to pass by in flying colors we need an organized system to work upon. i know that i am a man of few words when it comes to this type of manner but i'm just putting down to confirm what has just been said.

we get rid of the people who are off practically 100% of the time
we get the roster filtered so we can have a better view of who's here
we stop worrying on GB and GGL for the time being until we have this all settled
we have fun while doing it

if any complaints are to be made, make them in the kindest matter. not saying that jez has blasted our ears out. so lets go along with this and see where it takes us. if we don't like it, then we trash it. if we do, we keep it.

as simple as that.

You're doing awesome already tyson! Just keep kicking butt in the skies lol. I can't wait till me, you, kalm, and other great pilots we have face another clan in a GB battle. If you want to help us find more talented pilots, we could use help with that :yeh:

FYI I haven't abandoned this project guys, probably sometime Monday or Monday evening I plan to finally start dissecting the roster list. We are not gonna go hog wild and boot anyone from not responding after 3 days. I think we'll give people a longer deadline to respond. All we ask of members is to post here every once in awhile, heck even one post a month is fine with me. The whole purpose of organizing commanders and Lts is so we can contact and rally the members needed for specific battles. So FYI guys, one post a month is fine, that shows you're still around lol

whoa are you serious beamblast? Recruits from 2007 just sitting on the clan roster? That's horrible. See that's the kind of fat we need to clean off of the roster. I'm going to look at those names when I get home to my PS3. That's honestly embarassing lol

I'm probably exaggerating, but I saw one recruit with stats around that. I looked at your stats (Your k/d ratio is rigged) and a couple other ppls who I know. I looked at a couple random ppl, then I got too afraid to continue to look.

damn wow i like the opinions offered i have not read all but will.

@DW. Yes i agree the ones who sign up and walk away need to be cleared out.

Edit these are coming in out of sequence

@ hip. thanks for complimenting who and not adding another link in.

@ Jez pt 1
something like this, "wow, that sucked, we got destroyed. I'm frustrated, let's not play such good teams". Here is where the discrepancy lies; those clan battle sites are going to be populated by 90% hardcore clans/players that eat, drink, and sleep Warhawk. Truly casual (i.e. fun) clans/players aren't going to be represented in GGL and GB to any great extent (the nature of those systems are set toward highly organized and competitive groups).
one your not getting booted for taking a vacation its mainlly at cleaning up the sign up no shows who dont play or post. second yes alot of GB teams are pro calibur but we have hit on challanging below us or teams with simalar records to stop the ass beatings. we do have fun clans to play but have not done a buddy clan game in awhile. mxg NNN ( kats old clan i forget name) we had a list going for a bit. we need to look some of them up agianl

@ Jez pt 2. have a safe VAca
Ok yes i think 63 possible slots in warhawks clan roster allows for both our pro squad and casual gamers. just be sure and read the GB or casual gamer post to know what you are signing up for.

@ dw I cant post at work anymore :-( lucky OK one the more familar with an objective or goal and the more cohesive a team fights really will work some wonders for us. no DW we dont have to be harder core tehn thou to achive this but it does take some real dedication to team and its plan and goals i think that might be more closely related to Jez's point. but your right a happy casual clan with a plan and a alot of practice can whip major ass.

@ Mad Haz. i think i have agreed above with most of your thoughts. but let me say i dont mind doing a GB if we know we have a balance. nothing like a good even handed honest throw down. but i dont want to focous 100% on it friendly clan v clan games. DW 's practice hosts. i am going to try and get a Sony serve night expecting as many RRB:SPUD's as possible to jump in and show off our killing fun. killing each other and non friendlies alike. so but yeah i think i have already answered most of your points.

@ Beam realx we have some house cleaning but your ok. we need to clear the no shows and keep are roster up to date. partialy my fault sorry alll

@ DW. dont go for broke and dirve yourself nuts we can clean a lot up fast and alot of it is my duty been slacking sorry all

@ who dude dont freak we want this to be a place of fun we need to do some house cleaning. life liberty and happiness ( then gaming) we all have responabilities. this is not a job but a thing of joy. if it became a job i would not want to do this i dont think.

Just got back from vacation last night, and doing my best to get caught up... didn't want anyone to think I posted and ran!

All good thoughts on the subject... Overall, I think DW and the boys are doing a great job of finding the people that still want to play. I also agree that you don't have to be hardcore to compete, however, this being my first real clan, I guess I wasn't sure where the line of "competetive/non-competetive" fell.

Do you guys think Home will help? I've only played with it a little, but I can def. see how it might make for a more cohesive unit. Anywho, the wife's work schedule has changed in Warhawks favor, so I should be able to make the practices, etc. over the next few weeks (looking forward to getting back into some Warhawk).
