Several readers have noted that outages on Sony's PlayStation Network have prevented online play for the past few days. The company has now blamed an 'external intrusion' for the trouble, saying they took down the network to "conduct a thorough investigation and to verify the smooth and secure operation of our network services going forward." Some suspect an attack by Anonymous, who declared war on Sony earlier this month, but Anonymous has disavowed knowledge of such an attack. Meanwhile, others are asking whether Sony should compensate users for the inability to play PS3 multiplayer modes, and even single-player modes on a few downloadable games.

I have been playing the living hell out of Grandia these past few days thanks to the outage...so glad it happened thanks sony for even more incompetence!!!

I feel bad for the pay for Sony fans. for me the network was free and in that sense i cant complain. i have not been able to really play online for awhile becase of my own issues. ( remember at one point i hosted all the warhawk gamees. and would host maxed out 24 player games. :-) life was good once. that was a wireless signal too now i am on a dsl line. go figure.)

any way pine be like nood find a good solitary game and go howard hughes on people. :-) its what i did or have been doing. anyone seen my klenex boxes ?

hasnt affected me much. to be honest, its probably a good thing for me, ive been doing school work. and next week is finals!!

I could not agree more. I've been enjoying my PS2 library and several offline PS3 games I own.

Same here Kat. I've been playing some old games like Wing Commander and Starfox on my SNES. Just having so much fun going back to my old library of games.

I use my ps3 for more than just games.

I have been doing solo campaigns for various older games here and there. Like GTA4 and COD world at war

i cought a report by Race Warez ( if i am spelling it correctly) interviewing a person from wired mag. i forget his name.

good interview. pretty much told us what we have all heard. but now its on the TV :-)
one good recomendation
change your passwords if you use the same one for your PS3 and everything else.
( not good practice to start with fyi.)

check your credit card usage freqently

if you get an odd email from someone / place / bus/ site you know and trust
with some of your info asking for more like your password or to confirm your id
do not reply with any info. you are being attacked.

dont ever tell anyone your password for this site or any site. If you need a password reset there is an option for that. look for the password reset option here.

there is one like that on most site.

From what ive heard recently some info was hacked name address passwords email even and im not sure credit card info. So if you have a card on psn check your account for anything odd. Also you'll probably want to change your password when the psn comes back online.
Which might not happen for another week. it sucks but I blame hackers more then playstion. We had a free online game system. Someone people just had to mess things up.

BTW netfilx still works just keep loging on to psn it wont conect but it will take you to the netflix main page. It worked for me.

When the psn does come back up can I change the password somewhere through a PC?

Sory to hear about ylod. Yes I don't remember the link but you can change your psn password on a Sony website. You probably still need to change it at some point on your ps3 too.

Cool I think I can get one up long enough to change my password just haven't had any desire to bother with my ps3. But today was shitty and I left early. Made me a drink and would love to go shooting at people .. haha

So I guess I'm gonna try and fix my ps3 and play gt5 instead

Well that ps3 is done. It turns on, it will play a game. Fan runs on high all the time. No Bluetooth, need to keep controller plugged in via USB. No network at all wired wireless, not psn sign it, can't even see router.

Oh well, guess I'll go play more golf..
