POST Practice Battles for 11/25/08 & 11/28/08

Postby DWOMT » Sun Nov 23, 2008 2:36 am

Ok guys it's that time again. I am announcing the two nights my server will be open for battle practice this upcoming week. So here's the dates and times:

Tuesday 11/25/08 8pm Central Time
Dogfight night only
Several maps consisting of deathmatch dogfights, team deathmatch dogfights, and maybe a creative match that's FCTF where Warhawks can be used for CTF.

Friday 11/28/08 8pm Central Time
Ground pounder night only
Several maps consisting of ground battles only, no warhawks to be used. Good chance for ground practice and to have some fun doing it. There will be CTF, zones, team deathmatch, deathmatch, and many close corridor type battles. I will even throw in a sniper/binocular round only. Me and Fish also want to simulate a base rape scenario to practice on how to break out of a base rape. No details will be provided at this time till the start of the battle.

For these battles make sure to have your mics or at least be able to hear us for any special instructions. I can only host 16 people, so first come get in. Hope to see you guys there :yeh:

Daylight saving is gonna screw me over.

What city do you live? (I type in "*city name here* time" in google, then it gives me the time.) If you don't want to give your actual city, then give another nearby city.

hey DW, ryan just made me think of something, I know the dogfighs would be fun but that doesnt let the groundpounders get in, and we all usually end up in the air anyway, so why not take out the dogfight maps and we will dogfight anyway, this gives the added bonus of having the groundpounders trying to shoot us down, and they get to practice with missle turrets and flak guns while the pilots try to dogfight.

So it would be Pilots in the air, Groundpounders on the ground, and the groundpounders cant use warhawks and the pilots cant get on the ground to kill the groundpounders.

just an idea :yeh:

What you just described fish was basically the two Scrimmage battles I've had twice in a row the past two weeks lol. I don't mind doing it, it's just I kinda wanted to balance out this week for practices. I know the dogfight night is a disadvantage for the ground pounders, just like the ground war night on Friday will be a disadvantage for the pilots like myself. The point of separating the two for this week was to allow practice for those who are good and those who are bad at either type of fighting. Sometimes in dogfights you have to fly and get blown out of the sky a lot to practice. I sucked in Warhawks when I first started flying around in them. Sometimes I got so frustrated I wanted to throw my controller at my TV, but I stayed focused, and the more I died the more I noticed how easier it was getting to hold my own. Now I am a pretty darn good pilot. That's what the practice is for. To get peoples feet wet without hurting their stats. But maybe for fun I'll throw in a air and ground match for one or two rounds in the mix, but I want to keep Tuesday night primarily dogfighting. Friday night I will get pwned by the ground pounders, so they'll get their revenge on me LOL

Oh and ryan, don't get discouraged. Just keep practicing, and study the dogfighting materials i have posted on this forum. I recommend going to Pro flight, and practice in the Warhawk simulator the game provides. :yeh:

during the other scrimmages everyone was everywhere, at least i was, what i was trying to say is that pilots have to stay in the air and ground ppl stay on the ground, makes it a 4 way battle, or 3 way if the pilots dont try to kill the grund ppl

I should be able to get on Tuesday night depending on if I beat my roommate to the TV, but Friday's a no go since I'm driving home for Thanksgiving break. Also I think as long as the ground guys don't use the AA missiles that'd be cool. Everytime i join a server to get some warhawk practice in or get use to it there are like 8 missiles flying up my tailpipe.

well if you want to get more pilot training, I provide materials in this practice section to help. If you click on announcements in this practice section of the forum, I have dog fighting info that's provided on using a Warhawk in Pro Flight mode. I'd start there if you want to begin sharpening your skills. I used to suck at being in a Warhawk, and after lots of dieing and practicing I'm a dominate pilot. My KDR is now 1.72 and I can dominate the skies at times :D

Don't forget guys, dogfight battle practicing tonight. I can't wait to play a map I've been wanting to try. A FCTF fight, which is CTF, but the flag can be carried by a Warhawk, which sets up intense air battles between those trying to shoot down the guy with the flag, and those trying to defend their team mate with the flag. I played FCTF on an official server and it was awesome, very intense. This map also allows the ground pounders to get in on the action (as fish was wanting lol). The ground pounders can cover the flag area from approaching warhawks by laying mines everywhere, and getting the anti-air killing ready. So it should be fun and very challenging!

Great fun again guys. I like the challenge of a large dogfight, especially against quality pilots. Kalm was very impressive, and as always DWOMT is an aerial beast. I can always tell when its you on my tail DW. Death often follows soon after the machine gun fire. Glad I could get a few shots in before you shut the server down. Maybe I will show up for the ground game and get pounded. Catch yall next time.
