This will be listed here in the practice thread because I want to see where you all picked up your pilot/ground skills in your gaming life. That way it kind of adds a back story to who you are as a Warhawk player
Since I am a pilot, I'd have to say I've been playing aircraft games for a long time. I remember kicking butt on the Top Gun games on the NES as a kid, although I could never land on the carrier very well lol. I do have to say though that my first major piloting game was the original Starfox on Super Nintendo. I played that game to death. I beat it in all it's modes and I loved the Arwings in it and loved shooting down enemy aircraft on planets and in outer space. I felt like a talented pilot in that game. So I guess I've always had kind of a draw towards fighting in aircraft.
What about you guys?
P.S. I have mp3s of the SNES Starfox music on my PS3, and they're great to play while dogfighting in Warhawk. Makes me feel like I am back in Starfox again hehehehe

I play both..and that comes from my drive to outdo every1 in every single possible way i can..ever since goldeneye and always in FPS games..i always!!! want to come out on top...not necessarily # 1 (xcept in fps if im not # 1 in a match i get extremly pist off) but top 3 or 5 is good enuff...idk....ive jus always been super competitive when needed..and that drives me to get good in evry single aspect of a game...

I played alot of flying games starfox , colony wars (PS1) and Total eclipse (Sega saturn) a very good game back in the day. The ground fighting is different then a frist person. I just played alot of death matches till i started winning them.

Re: The origin of your piloting/ground skills
Game consoles I have owned,
Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Nintendo 64, PS1, PS2, X-Box, PS3. I got them all years after they came out so I was always behind the learning curve on most games.
As for where I got my warhawk flying skills, I have to give credit to nofx456, my original clan leader. I had never been schooled so bad in the air as I was when I first met him. We started playing every night and I picked up his moves and have since improved on most of them.

Pretty cool responses guys.
Noodlez, I loved Goldeneye on the N64! In fact I still own it along with my original N64. That game was awesome. My favorite level is when you're in that underground facility and you're shooting up bad guys left and right, that was so cool!
Hey GB you also played the original Starfox? It was such a classic. When I found myself winning so many air battles in it I knew I was a natural at flying aircraft in games. It's so funny how video games make us feel when we show certain skills.
Wow Pocket you owned a lot of systems. I've mostly owned Nintendo consoles all my life. My first Sony console was the PS2, which I honestly bought before the Nintendo Gamecube. The PS2 is a great machine, but honestly the PS3 is a nice updgrade. I just wish my PS3 was backwards compatible so I can play my collection of PS2 games on my HDTV. My PS2 is currently hooked up to a smaller TV lol As for where I got my Warhawk skills, I would watch other great pilots in the server, I'd read and watch youtube videos till I learned pro flight and dodging missiles. The rest was stuff I made my own.

LOL Virtual boy is still around? Wow LOL. I haven't bought a Wii yet, don't know when I will, there seems to be no games on it for me. I think the Wii is a decent system, but it wasn't made for real gamers sadly. I feel like Nintendo doesn't care about the dedicated fans these days. As for Dreamcast I still own mine. Skies of Arcadia on Dreamcast is one of the best games I have ever played.

Re: The origin of your piloting/ground skills
Well I try to be humble about it but I'm pretty good in the air so I guess I'm a pilot. I can hold my own on the ground and still be top 10 every match if i stayed there, but I the air is where I can take people down and really dominate.
My first system was a genesis and didn't have any flying games for it (were there really any?) unless you count using tales in Sonic 3 lol. But then I got a 64 and my neighbour got a PS1. You guessed it, I had Starfox64 and he had the original (yes i'm proud to say i played it) WH. I still remember the dialogue and alternate paths in SF64. I KILLED that game. The 4 player splitscreen is where I had my first taste of piloting against other people though and I couldn't get enough and when my 64 started to overheat I would hit up my neighbour and we'd kill WH. It was like that every other day.
Then, my neighbour and I got PS2's and he got Ace Combat 3 or 4 something like that. I'm pretty sure i borrowed it and it became mine by the simple fact that i never gave it back lol. He never asked for it though so I figure it wasn't too bad lol. I played that game to death too.
As for my WH skills in particular? Lots and lots of matches. I learned the narrow-the-gap strategy after I realised how hard it was to dodge point-blank, I learned the brake-and-mine strategy after a guy pulled it on me a whole match (still gets me sometimes when someone in the air has killed me a few times and I'm really gunning for them lol) and missile dodging was pretty much panicked inventiveness the first time I tried it lol. I could go on but I don't want to reveal too many secrets lol.

To begin with, you're an incredible pilot Kalm, you sure give me a challenge everytime we are on opposite teams, so you have bragging rights my friend LOL. It's nice to know you're origins too. I still own my Starfox 64 on my N64 (which is boxed away). I loved that game. I remember when Star Wolf and his squadron showed up I got really excited because it felt like this major epic air battle between opponents. You're right about the genesis, there weren't really any piloting games LOL. The Sonic games on the Genesis were my absolute favorite. The old Sonic games are coming to PS3 by the way!
And yeah you're air mines drive me nuts man lol. Sometimes I'll be making a sweet dive and spin for a health icon and missile thinking I am safe till BOOM air mine killed by [Spud]Kalm20 LOL. Drives me crazy, but you're great at that. Keep up the great work, and I look forward to future battles with you

I guess for my piloting "skills" it came out by force. As I was in a game with a few friends, in a dogfight only, and they where not playing, and just messing around, with me vs 4 other people, and I just got mad, and "got good" in that one match, and got first place. Before that thou, I sucked.

Good info man, you're a great pilot. I remember how me and you tore up the skies awhile back on the Omega map of an official server
