I still stand by my comment. R:FOM is still one of the best FPS on a Console period. It had some incredible AI, PC style customizable multiplayer, a very long campaign, and a few features that were implemented into COD4 which followed the next year and is regarded as one of the best FPS ever made, and all of this is from a launch title. Thats why i think its easily one of the best launches ever made. PS3s launch wasnt bad, it was just too pricey so barely anyone bought one at release. It was a hell of better release than the 360. It was expensive when it launched too but all it had was King Kong and COD2 which was on PC for like 6 months by the time it came out. And the Wii pretty much had just Wii sports, which got sale after about 2 days. The best launches are easily, NES, SNES, N64, and Dreamcast because i dont care what anyone says. When it was released Sonic Adventure was just a fantastic game. It was unlike anything graphically at the time and it had actual music soundtrack, voice acting. It was like 2 steps from PS1 and N64. But anyways, my point still stands, sure R:FOM had some bland moments but to say it was a completely bland shooter is just a ridiculous comment. And actually i beat R2 twice now, it simply was not as good a single player experience as R:FOM. R:FOM was longer, had a more original aspect to it, where R2 just rips off alot from other FPS IE Halo to exact and it comes off as more of a clone than a full fledged sequal. But its still a fantastic game.
My Point is there isnt a whole lot of good launches, the majority of Launches came with lame or lackluster titles. The PS3 had a critcally acclaimed game Day one that had quite a huge community by the time everyone finally bought the system.
