Bats

Postby fishki » Thu Jul 24, 2008 9:12 pm

Okay, ive been around bats forever, have studied them, counted them, cleaned up after them, even taken there pics, but these are a few of the coolest pics i have seen, bats drinking from a hummingbird feeder.

These bats appear from there color and nose leaf to be Lesser Long Nosed Bats which is a member of the Leaf Nosed Bat family Phyllostomidae (had to get out my book for this). These bats are nectarivorous (flower nectar drinkers).

when i was a teenager I would go swiming in my grandfathers pool and during the summer months with my cous and his girlfirend we would sit at the corner of the pool and the bats would dive bomb us and skim the surface of the pool and pass within a foot or less of our heads. it was very cool.

Thats so cool fish, Ill see if I can find them but I also have some pics of a bat. I was at my family trailer when me and my sister found a bat in the back of our boat with a broken wing. We made a nice habitat for him an a big aquarium that our neighbours had and fed him all sorts of bugs that we caught. We kept the lid off except when he was feeding so the bugs couldn't escape and when his wing got healed he flew away and scared my dad who was sitting by the aquarium at the time.

cool nice pics....

Random facts - in WWI or WWII can't remember whatever was against japan. There was an american project to attach napalms to bats and let canisters dropped from the air in broad daylight. So the bats would go in the japanese wooden houses to find darkness and would explode lighting everything on fire. Though the war ended to soon and the operation was canceled.

Thats pretty cool ts, most ppl would torture and/or kill an injured bat, and yeah i would love to see the pic if you can find it.
Bats are so misunderstood and many ppl needlessly fear them. I think they are the coolest mammal alive.
If anyone has not noticed the open wing structure is similiar to an outspread human hand.
And of course, baby bats are called pups.

No they are not dangerous and no you cant have one as a pet.
Even tho that would be my first choice as a pet, I would want the eastern red pipistrel, they have a tiny little squeal they make when petted and are tiny little things.
you should not take them out of their enviroment and cage them up. Thanks to your enemy the bat, you get bit by less mosquitos, and bugged by less of those damn moths that fly around your porch lite, kill every bat in the world and watch the insect population explode. No they are not made for pets, sorry.

Its just because no one understands them. Birds are out during the day, everyone sees them, look at the pretty birdie. Screw the damn birds, they crap on my windshield, they are noisy and build nests where they should not, pidgeons are birds and no one is scared of them, why? Cause they can see them, see them crapping on statues and ppls heads after they eat popcorn out of there hands, serves em right.
But bats only come out after dark, oooooohhhh, they must be scary things to be afraid of cause its swooping down trying to attack me when im sitting on my deck at nite lookin at the stars. But wait!! Maybe that swooping bat just saved my ass from a big ass killer mosquito that was about to suck my blood. He wasnt trying to attack me, he was just catching him some food and helping me out so I wouldnt be scratching that mosquito bite all nite. He is my friend, and i was thinking bad about him, sorry mister bat, i wont be scared anymore.
