Clean the birds, or kill them?
A biologist in Germany has stirred up a fuss with comments suggesting it makes more sense to kill heavily oiled birds from the Gulf of Mexico oil-spill disaster than to clean them.

my subject line is what this made me think of . the birds dont understnad us and are in pain but have no abilty to flee and maybe it makes the last moments of their shortened lives better but i cant help and think about some unimagineable alien speices completely beyond our understnading doing this to us. it would be the same thing. to bad those stupid apes lived on that fuel rich rock. now i am just jabbering.
its not a rick roll dont say the second part of my subject did not warn you.

Okay strange as it sounds i agree with him, if most of them won't survive we're wasting resources. however if he's got bad statistics than it complicates things. It's the same thing as the climate change debate, if there is a climate change and we spend the money to prepare, then we did the right thing, if there is none. so what we wasted a bit of money, very different to the complications that can occur if we do nothing. And i suppose that "better safe than sorry" mechanic applies here too.
sorry i can't brain today, i have the dumb

from my limited understanding most creatures that absorb or ingest a certin amount of oil are going to be poisened and die. its one of those helpless moments when you want to think people can fix somthing so bad. I am not sure we can there will be massive damages and hopefully enough of all these species will survivie to rebound once the waters clense themselves. until the well is caped the warters will continue to be poisined. I am not blaming anyone. the fishermen run boats that run off of oil. your car runs off of oil. you have synthetic prodcuts in your house that are made from oil derivitives. we are so tied to this fossil fuel and so incapable of switching off that this will continue to repeat in different ways across the globe. this is not the first disaster and not the last. sucks for all of us.
