that is pretty much the mind set. although taken to the extreme socitey will punish you but the church will absolve you. Kind of an sad excuse that i am so flawed somthiing aobove all judgemnt will forgive me renedering my peers viewpoints of me valueless. how can i still find you guilty if a Diety absolves you. to quote the only Budah tenant i ever seem to remeber "life is suffering" sums it up for me.

any way to draw the moral analogy carnival occours before lent and is lossley trranslated to "Farewell to meat" hence the christan / cathlolic tradition of abstaining from meat durring lent. the carnival / mardi gras celebration is in part time for those people to live it up indulge in sin before atoning for that sin and trying to behave like a better religious moral entity. I have friends that give up habbits for lent. I dont pick on them becase i care for them but in truth i find the practice ridiculous.

I go to a school with a bunch of 'smart' kids, so we have the weirdest midnight-hotel-room-conversations. We were talking about religion, very weird. I would prefer a religion that has more of an application than praying to a god and hearing inspirational stories.

welll like all religons there are factions I like the true philosphical strain of it. they still have ceremonies and rituals but they dont pray to a diety. I like that aspect of it.

the four tenants as i remmeber

1 "life is suffering. " that one is spot on vebatim
2 man can learn
3 learning can help one escape suffering
4 enlightenment.

ok i reallly am not your role model here as i am have been attempting to be Nihilist for so long and i keep stumping on not reaching higher levels any way more on that some day

i copied this from wiki

"the noble truth that is suffering"
"the noble truth that is the arising of suffering"
"the noble truth that is the end of suffering"
"the noble truth that is the way leading to the end of suffering"

here is the link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budhism#Th ... ble_Truths

I will search out the documentary i saw abbout Budhism if i find it i will send you a link so you might rent it if you can find it.

hey man way to feild it. The esscence of it is what means somthing to you.

I dont try to pick on people but i feel strongly about things. I have friends who are cathloic and i love them but i dont see existance the same way. we get along and they acept my disbeilf about everything. thats when you know you are amongst good people. my view has become dark and vacuous but it makes sense to me and gives me odd comfort. So i am not pointing fingers but when we start talking about this it gets tough not to offend some onse belief system. just remember some one might not feel exactly as you do. beyond that explore and enjoy yourselves just tread some what litely. my tolerance gets agrivated when I start hearing about how someone or group has no right to exist . ugh and yes that includes evil or some you would consider evil. so as long as you are not starting a which hunt i dont have any problems with any of the chatter here. i have not seen any thing i consider offensive so no harm no foul
