Earths trojan asteroid 2010 TK7 will be at its closect, only 18.3 million miles ahead of us

A little speck of an asteroid that precedes us in our orbit, it has a diameter of roughly 1000 feet.... to bad it will only shine at a feeble magnitude of 21, about the same as looking for one of jupiters moons with the unaided eye

Dec 5 is also a children's holiday in my country.. Christmas (read Santa Claus) is based on this guy by Americans.

Lol, I know it's not just going to go boom. But thinking about solar flares with a possibly weakened magnetic field scares me a little. Ya know in case the poles decide to flip... Ha. They say they are already moving and I think the North Pole was accelerating towards Russia.

The thing is Drew, solar flares happen all the time, only the big ones affect us by knocking down a power grid occasionally, The magnetic field protecting us has the same strength it has had for the last 50,00 years.
As far as the poles reversing, maybe someday, on average it happens a few times every million years, but sometimes they undergo an excursion rather than a reversal, at this time it does suffer some strength loss but does not reverse and later regenerates itself with the same polarity and strength, and north stays north and south stays south.

And Russia can not have magnetic North, it still belongs to North America

Exactly what I'm scared of. Power grid failure. Anything that can send a largely populated area into some sort of major riot or looting scares me. I live right next to Oakland. Lots of gangs and what not already set up. I'm gonna be outnumbered..
