PS3 HOME blurbs.

PS3 HOME blurbs.

Postby twistedblister » Thu May 15, 2008 1:56 pm

I grabed this from the AU IGN guys post. this what i wanted to hear so i am again interested and optamistic about home. if they can do this why not sell Warhawk servers or its infrastructre to the fans so we can maintain and host or own games when they decide to cancel or revamp it for a differnt or newer game.

IGN
"Ron Festejo: The thing is, it's important to know that Home is a free service and it's continuously evolving. We don't see this as being tied to a particular console. We see this as tied into the PlayStation Network; with every console iteration, the online portion of that will only get bigger and bigger. I think Home is there to stay, and it's a great project to work on when you can see the kind of areas it'll go on to expand to. "
IGN

that sounds promising and to me means that the networks being platform independent might allow you to play your ps3 online games until your machine dies. at least that is the optamistic person in me saying that. :_)

That's awesome, I hope Home comes out soon ('cept I know the beta's opening in October or something). Also, all the Warhawk servers, except Official servers, are hosted by a PS3 machine. All they would need to do is keep one server up to connect players to games that people are hosting.

from what i read it live date is Nov of this year as of the last week or so. it may change. I lke the idea of having a social waiting room instead of the fake prelive warhawk game but I am used to that now.

The beta goes open in November then, they still haven't decided a release date, though I think it will be forever an open beta, at least for a few years.

Warhawk has an AWESOME feature for home though. You can meet up with friends/clan mates and plan attacks. There is, from what I understand, a 3D map of the maps, and you can move around things like warhawks, tanks, jeeps, APCs, Dropships and people. I picture it to be something like this:

It is actually, it's from a real bunker (NOT Home), but Warhawk will have something like that in Home.

yeah i understood. I was just commenting on how it looked to me. good geuss on my part.

here is the blurb from the latest news on IGNS site your right it is in open beta this fall :-(
"April 22, 2008 - Well, we have good news and bad news. The good news is that Home is taking its beta from closed to open, which will give more gamers the chance to get in and test the much-hyped social networking system.
The bad news? The beta opens in the fall. This fall. The same time it was supposed to be released.
"We understand that we are asking PS3 and prospective PS3 users to wait a bit longer, but we have come to the conclusion that we need more time to refine the service to ensure a more focused gaming entertainment experience than what it is today," said Kazuo Hirai, president and group CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. "Our overarching objective is to provide users with new gaming experiences that are available only on PlayStation Home. Spending more time on the development and on the closed beta testing reaffirms our commitment to bringing a quality service, maintaining the PlayStation tradition."

so good and bad if anyone hears any noise about how to sign up for the free beta post instructions so we can get as many players in there as possible

The beta's simply going to be opened up, anyone can join. It's like it's being released, but there will be bugs to report to be fixed.

theres ups and downs there. will they make some achivements impossible for braging rights. I hope not. I do like the idea of the meeting/ waiting room for the players instead of a games loading screen or ( well the pre play in wharhawk is acutally ok if somene eventually shows up) just waiting on ohters laod screen.

With the Warhawk Strategy room thing, we'd actually have to schedule it, because otherwise no one would be there.
